New Delhi, 2 October(Wishav Warta): Three minors were killed and eight other civilians were injured in firing and shelling by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday, reported. Among those killed were a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. The injured have been admitted a district hospital in the Digwar sector of Poonch. An Army vehicle was also damaged in the aggression by Pakistani troops. “Pakistan is a country of cowards, on one side they show white flags and on other (they) target civilians,” said Nirmal Singh, deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops have increased sharply this year. Hundreds of border dwellers have been forced to flee their homes due to the Pakistani firing and shelling. They have had to take shelter at camps set up by the government. Until August 1, the Pakistan army had committed 285 such violations, while there were 228 such violations in the whole of 2016, according to figures by the Indian Army.
