PATIALA, May 4: Former union minister and senior Congress leader Ms Preneet Kaur today said that the NYAY scheme announced by the Congress party in its election manifesto will do justice with each and every citizen of the country who is living below poverty line, irrespective of the caste or creed he or she belongs to.
She said, under the scheme Rs 6000 will be deposited in the bank account of very such family and in case they have an account in a lady’s name, it will be transferred into her account only.
She was addressing the public meetings in the villages Balberha, Ghram and Pipal Kheri in the Sanaur assembly segment falling within the Patiala parliamentary constituency.
The former Minister of State for External Affairs said, unlike Modi’s fake promise of depositing Rs 15 lakhs in every Indians bank account which he never did, NYAY scheme has been carefully and well thought one aimed at alleviating the plight of the poor.
She said, the BJP government at the centre had benefitted a very few people, while a large majority of the Indians, particularly the poor and the downtrodden had been left high and dry. “There is still a majority of people who cannot make both ends meet”, she said, while assuring that the NYAY scheme will help such people and their families.
The Congress candidate from the Patiala parliamentary constituency said, the Modi government had never thought about the poor or even the middle classes. She pointed out, the way Modi announced demonetization scheme, it only revealed his government’s insensitivity towards the common masses who were forced to queue up outside the banks to withdraw Rs 2000.
She also referred to various schemes of the Congress government in the state like the farmers’ loan waiver, which had benefitted lakhs of distressed farmers. She said, the state government was bringing in a similar scheme for the landless labourers also where money will be directly transferred into their account.
Ms Kaur was accompanied by local party leaders including Harry Mann.
