New Delhi: Terming the alarming pollution levels in Delhi NCR as a violation of the right to life, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Centre and the government of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana asking them to give details of steps taken by them to tackle the issue.
The commission has taken a serious view of the issue of pollution in Delhi NCR, labelling it “life-threatening”, and has slammed the authorities for not taking proper steps throughout the year to deal with this hazard. It has asked the Union and state governments to give a report on the matter in two weeks time.
