- SURJIT PATAR TERMS HIS DEMISE AS A BIG LOSS TO ART AND LITERARY FIELD
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 1 (Wishav Warta) : The Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has expressed profound grief at the demise of eminent personality of literary, art and folk culture field Prof. Rajpal Singh who passed away today after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and a son.
Deeply condoling the demise of Prof. Rajpal Singh, Mr. Sidhu said that Prof. Rajpal rendered valuable services while serving as the Secretary General of the Punjab Kala Parishad, President, Punjab Sahit Akademi and Secretary of the Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi. The minister said that Prof. Rajpal served the cause of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat all his life which was evident from the way he participated in the meetings held to finalise the cultural policy of Punjab. The minister further said that Prof. Rajpal was also a dedicated teacher who taught the students with utmost care while serving as Professor of English at Government Mohindra College, Patiala. Mr. Sidhu prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Surjit Patar while condoling the demise of Prof. Rajpal Singh termed it as a big loss to Folk Art, Culture and Literary Field.
