Jalandhar: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jalandhar and inaugurated the five-day 106th Indian Science Congress on the theme ‘Future India: Science and Technology’ at Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Thursday.
The PM landed at Adampur airport and reached LPU at around 11.30am.
After taking a ride on a driverless solar-powered bus developed by the University students he inaugurated the Indian Science Congress and addressed the gathering.
The PM remained on stage for about one hour.
He will also hold an interactive session on ‘Future of Science in India’ with three eminent Nobel Laureates including winners of Nobel prize for chemistry (2004) Avram Hershko, Nobel prize for physics F Duncan M Haldane (2016) and Nobel prize for medicine Thomas Christian Südhof (2013).
Around 15,000 delegates including 300 top scientists from Indian and foreign countries attended the event.
After this PM Modi will reach Gurdaspur where he will hold a ‘Dhanwad Rally’ and address the public. The rally is being organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) at the PUDA Grounds on Gurdaspur-Batala road.
