Mayor and Deputy Commissioner Kick-start Work on Heritage Street
Work to Be Completed in Seven Parts from Samania Gate to A-Tank
Patiala, November 20 (wishavwarta):-Construction work of Heritage Street in the Royal city at a cost of Rs 42 crore was kick started today by Mayor Sanjeev Sharma and DC Kumar Amit. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur, PDA Chief Administrator Surbhi Malik and a team of engineers were present on the occasion.
The officials discussed the drawing prepared for Heritage Street in detail with the engineers. It was then decided to minimize the impact on the city’s traffic system. Therefore, the work of Heritage Street will be completed in seven parts. Keeping in view the convenience of the people, Mayor Sanjeev Sharma directed the team of engineers to start the Heitage Street from Samania Gate to A-Tank, Gurmandi, Bartan Bazaar, Qila Chowk, Churianwala Bazaar, Sadar Bazaar to A-Tank.
According to the mayor, the project will be completed in seven phases. To complete this project, the traffic to the major markets of the city will be diverted to different sections and at the same time the traffic in some sections will be one-way.
The work on Heritage Street is expected to be completed in about a year, said Mayor by adding that electricity and telephone lines will be laid underground before the completion of Heritage Street project. In addition, the sewerage and water supply lines in these areas will be improved and redesigned so that they do not have to be dug up again for many years after completion of the work.
