Bathinda: Vowing to provide jobs and employment to the youth of the state, Punjab Finance, Planning and Employment Generation Minister, Manpreet Singh Badal promised to provide jobs to five lakh youth under the ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar” scheme of the state government every year.
While inaugurating Second ‘Mega Job Fair’ at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) here on Tuesday, Manpreet Badal said that the Punjab government is working with utmost sincerity to provide jobs and employment to the youth of the state and target of providing 25 lakh jobs and employment avenues to the youth in five years has been fixed.
Appealing Youth and farmers not to resort to suicides, Badal said that the Chief Minister, Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh has fullfiled his promise of providing job to every household with initiation of the Recruitment drive and this year, the Punjab Government is inviting large number of companies to provide employment during the Job Fairs. Apart from this, all the small, Medium & large industrial units of the state are also being motivated to join these fairs to provide jobs to the Youth of the state, he added.
Vowing to make Punjab a peaceful, healthy and prosperous state – free from drugs and debt, Badal gave a clarion call for eradicating Corruption, poverty (real enemies of the country) and stressed upon the need for improving Education, Health and Housing for all.
He further elaborated that unemployment has been rampant during the past 10 years and now the agenda of the Punjab government is to effectively control the menace. The minister also said that education would be modernized and brought in tune with the changing trends so as to generate maximum job avenues in the state. He also stressed upon the need to empower Punjabi youngsters going abroad for livelihood with Skill to compete in the Modern World.
Badal reiterated his promise to develop MRSPTU as Model University in the state, which will provide fillip to the technical education in the state.
Addressing candidates, MRSPTU students and staff members, Minister Badal thanked the University for being a great part of the government initiative. ” I am happy to note that this mammoth-job campaign at MRSPTU is to solidify state government’s anticipations for providing employment to Thousands of young men-women of the state,” he hoped. Taking examples from his personal life, Badal advised students: “Be an all-rounder and set target for your life along with a set time table to achieve that.”
Interacting with the media-persons after inaugurating job fair at MRSPTU, the minister said that after job fairs, ‘rozgar melas’ would be organized in which the unemployed would be encouraged to start their own ventures and loans would be advanced at low interest rates and the government is formulating a comprehensive policy concerning the same.
Expressing concern over state’s grim financial health, Badal claimed that Congress government is going to turn Punjab from revenue deficit state to revenue surplus state.
Congratulating the government in taking necessary steps for settlement of qualified unemployed youth of the state, MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr.), Mohan Paul Singh Ishar says: “We are happy to be a part of the government initiative and are very keen in sharing responsibility of providing jobs to almost each and every aspiring candidate for their bright future ahead.”
Dr Ishar said that the varsity was established in 2015 to give an impetus to the technical education in Malwa region and focusing on skill development, research and teachers’ training, boosting Agriculture and Food Processing industry, pharmaceutical Sciences to accelerate the process for providing employment to Youth. He proudly said that the MRSPTU has become the first Technical University in Punjab to be registered under 12-B of the UGC Act 1956 making the Institute eligible for the central assistance.
It may be mentioned here that, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has been organizing Second state level job fairs in government and private institutions at 40 locations across the state from February 20 to March 8, 2018. MRSPTU will organize Job Fair in its campus from February 20th to 24th. As many as thirty five companies with 800 Plus vacancies will be participating from north India.
