Chandigarh: The leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Monday levelled serious corruption allegations against Cabinet Minister Charnjeet Singh Channi for his alleged involvement in illegal sand mining through his nephew in the state.  Providing evidence in the case, Khaira alleged that Malikpur mine in district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was allotted to Kudratdeep Singh S/o Kamaljeet Singh of Ludhiana who is the business partner and close associate of Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh alias Honey.

The leader of the opposition said that just as Rana Gurjit Singh invested his money in sand mining contract through his cook Amit Bahadur, in same way Channi did it through Honey. He said that Honey has floated a firm named Punjab Realtors Co. to get contracts of sand mining. “The case clearly shows that black money was invested in getting contract of sand mine as the said company is of very small scale and was not able to get contract of Crores.” Khaira said.

Showing photos of Honey and Kudratdeep Singh with Congress Ministers Channi,Tript Rajinder Bajwa and Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, Khaira said that it shows that the contractor has deep links with the Congress leaders. He asked the Govt. to mark an inquiry in the case by a commission under sitting or retired judge of High Court.

“The chief minister had tweeted about the illegal mining being carried out in the SBS Nagar area few days back, I have provided the facts about it and now it is the turn of CM to take action against people responsible for it.” Khaira said. He said that being leader of opposition in Punjuab Vidhan sabha, he will continue to raise the voice of people inside and outside the assembly.
