Jalandhar gears up for mass movement under DAPO program

Jalandhar: Jalandhar district administration has fully geared up for engaging the people from various fields to make a mass movement under DAPO program of the Punjab Government.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma alongwith Police Commissioner P.K.Sinha, SSP Jalandhar Rural Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, ADC Jasbir Singh today reviewed the preparations for the function to be observed as “Youth empowerment day” on March 23 at DAVIET, in which Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh would administer oath to the youth via video conference.

Deputy Commissioner has also ordered to constitute 5 committees for smooth conduct of the function. It includes Venue committee comprising SDM Jal-1, DPRO Jal and Tehsildar Jal-1, Security committee, Refreshment committee, cultural committee and Press and Publicity committee.

Calling upon the upon the students, NGOs, social workers, employees of all departments to play an important role in generating awareness about the ill effects of drugs on the socio-economic aspects of the nation , Deputy Commissioner said that more than 13,000 DAPOs have been registered till now  .

He asked the officials of various departments especially the, youth services, Health and education to go an extra mile for maximum registration for DAPO as they would further aware the people about the harmful impact of drugs.

He said that DAPOs would play an important role in raising awareness against drug abuse, identification of users, high risk people and vulnerable sections besides motivating the drug users and their families to avail treatment facilities, facilitating their treatment and counseling at drug de-addiction centres besides provide feedback to the state government on the issue.
