Cape Town, January 6: After being pushed back late on the opening day, the Indian needed resolute approach from their batsmen. At 28/3 and with the South African pacers breathing fire, there was little margin of error. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma resumed the innings and had to show grit under testing circumstances. The duo almost pulled it off before Rohit was adjudged lbw but at 76/4 when the lunch break was taken, they must have felt a tinge of delight for having not succumbed to the conditions.
While Pujara was solid batting on 26, for company he had R Ashwin whose nervy stay so far has brought him two fours in an unbeaten 12 as India trail by 210 runs on Day 2 of the first Test in Cape Town.
