Chandigarh: Disapproving the Punjab cabinet’s anti-people decisions taken in its meeting on Wednesday, the leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Thursday condemned Capt. Amarinder Singh led Punjab Govt. In a press statement, Khaira said that the decision of sending amount of power subsidy in farmer’s account is in long run a step towards windrowing the power subsidy provided to the state farmers.
Khaira said that the move of govt. is mainly to shift the focus of farmers agitating for debt waver as promised by the govt. He said that before trying to burden the already troubled farmers of the state, the CM must ask his ministers and congress MLAs to shun the farm subsidy. “As per the plan, the govt. will send the bill amount in farmer’s account that is expected to delay, from where the farmer would get money to pay his bill in that situation?” asked Khaira.
“When it comes to wave off the farm debt of farmers, the govt. releases just Rs. 170 Crores out of said 9000 Crores but is trying to cut down 6000 Crores tubewell subsidy in one go. The govt. must apologize to the people of state for putting forward wrong promises before elections” said Khaira.
Criticizing the cabinet’s decision to shut down 1647 out of 2147 Seva Kendras, Khaira said that the decision would leave thousands of state youth unemployed. He said that rather than shutting down these centers, the govt. must try to correct the working of it by acquiring it from private players. He said that the govt. is taking U-Turn from its all the promises written in itselection manifesto. “Earlier the decision of shutting down Bathinda and Ropar thermal plant lead thousands of workers engaged there on road and now this decision would mar more families.” He said.
Cautioning Capt. Govt. to stop testing patience of the people of state, Khaira said that CM himself has no interest in the affairs of state and people are left on the mercy of God. He said that govt. must focus on providing facilities to the people of state rather than spending crores of rupees to appease it’s near and dears.
