New Delhi: The government on Monday tabled the economic survey for the fiscal year 2017-18, on the first day of the budget session of the Parliament. Ahead of the Union Budget, the finance ministry presents the economic survey which reviews the overall state of the economy in the year gone by and highlights policy initiatives of the government. It also charts out the prospects of the economy in the short to medium term.
This year’s survey points out that India can be rated as among the best performing economies as the average growth during last three years is around 4 percentage points higher than global growth and nearly 3 percentage points higher than that of emerging markets and developing economies.
According to the survey GDP (Gross Domestic Product) to grow at 6.75 per cent this year and by 7 to 7.5 per cent in the next financial year (2018-19). The mid-term economic survey tabled in August last year had projected the annual GDP at 6.5 per cent.
