Fire broke out at Jalandhar destroys 25 cloth shops

Jalandhar: Atleast 25 cloth shops reduced to ashes after fire broke out at Sudama Cloth Market, near Jyoti Chowk,Jalandhar on Diwali night on Friday ,Goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire. No loss of life was reported in the fire.

Fire brigade vehicles and personnel rushed to the spot but the market was engulfed by the flames. It took 20 rounds of Fire Brigade Vehicles to control the fire. Fire officer Rajinder Sharma said the fire was brought under control after four hours.

Traders said that their losses ran in lakhs of rupees. Though the cause of the fire was to be ascertained, market association president Balwant Singh said that foul play could not be ruled out. Jalandhar deputy commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that fire brigade teams reached the spot and controlled fire. In which more than 20 vehicles were used, but the cause of the fire and how much damage has occurred yet to be estimated.
