Jalandhar, July 7 (wishavwarta):- Tightening the noose around the people who were not wearing the masks and violating the directives of Punjab Government, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has so far issued 14742 challans to them, under the ‘Mission Fateh’ initiated by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and imposed a fine of Rs 67.16 lakh on willful defaulters.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the Police have so far issued 14742 without mask challans and collected a fine worth Rs 67.16 lakh from the violators.
He said that a fine worth Rs 73000 has been imposed so far for 41 violations of home quarantine instructions adding that 315 persons have been fined Rs 47100 for spitting in public place.
The Commissioner of Police said that a total of 41051 challans have been issued so far to the traffic violators and 2070 vehicles have been impounded.
The CP told that fine worth Rs 1.02 lakh has been imposed on overloaded 55 four wheelers, Rs 16000 on overloaded 32 Autos and fine worth Rs 2,88,000 has been imposed on 144 for violating social distancing norms.
Mr. Bhullar said that today, 208 traffic challans were issued by commissionerate police.
Mr Bhullar further revealed that today 278 persons without mask were challaned and a fine worth Rs 139000 was imposed on them.
He said that this drive would continue in the coming days and action would be taken against the violators adding that the people have to play a vanguard role for further checking the spread of COVID 19.
He said that it was the social responsibility of the residents to ensure the following the directives of the government to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
