Jalandhar, January 4- In a paradigm shift from awareness to empowerment of people, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) would soon organize a mega camp for making the people aware about their entitlements and procedural aspects for availing services of various departments on one hand and connecting them with the welfare schemes meant for them on the other.
Divulging the details Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mr. Gurmeet Tiwana, while chairing a preliminary meeting with the various departments at court complex today, said that as per the view of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), the Justice was not only confined to court based legal services. Rather than that, he said that the Justice extends to make people aware of their entitlements under various enactments, welfare schemes, programs and strengthening their access to the same. Tiwana said that the State and District Legal Services Authority have been organizing awareness camps from time to time to make people aware of their entitlements and apprise them about the availability of free legal services.
However, the Secretary DLSA said that the National Legal Services Authority has observed that in most of the camp the focus was largely on creating awareness amongst the people rather than deliverance of service to them. So, he said that a special mega camp would be organized in the coming days where on the spot delivery of services to the people particularly for welfare schemes would be ensured. Secretary DLSA said that during the camps the key departments would give a detailed presentation to the people about the relevant welfare schemes of their departments and criteria for it. Tiwana said that special stalls would be installed by the departments in the camp and after the presentation was completed people would visit these stalls and get information about the various schemes meant for them.
The Secretary DLSA further disclosed that besides informing the people about the schemes at stalls during the camp the departments would also fill the forms of the eligible beneficiaries, so that people could be connected with the schemes. Soliciting the support of the NGOs working in various fields, he said that they must assist the government departments to fill up the forms and benefit the masses. Tiwana said that the date and venue of this mega event would be decided after due deliberations with the key departments in the coming days.
