Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today underscored the need for making more and more number of people/ consumers aware of their rights during the ongoing ‘World Consumer Rights Week’.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was observing the ongoing ‘World Consumer Rights Week’ with full enthusiasm to make the people/ consumers aware of their rights. He said that a massive campaign was being embarked to make the people/ consumers about their rights during this ongoing campaign from March 15-21. Similarly, he said that efforts were being made to highlight the landmark judgments, which have provided relief to the consumers. Sharma said that efforts were also being made to transform this week into a mass movement so that more and more people could be benefitted from it.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officers/ officials to hold detailed deliberations with the consumer organizations, so that they could be made aware of the rights of the consumers in a befitting manner. He also asked the officer/ officials of the departments directly related to the public to organize public functions. Sharma said that in these functions the consumers must be invited and should be asked to air their problems, if any.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the complaints of the consumers should be immediately redressed in such camps. Sharma said that this would ensure better dissemination of information amongst the people, which would help in making them aware of this noble cause.
