Jalandhar, December 08: Underlining the need for imparting quality skill education to the youth, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar, Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that it was the need of hour to make them gainfully self employed.
Interacting with the youth during valedictory function of the RUDSET organization here today, the Deputy Commissioner said that due to enhanced competition, job opportunities in the government sector were restricted now. He said that in such a scenario the role of technical education has enhanced a lot. Sharma said that the technical education was a catalyst for transforming the lives of youth thereby ensuring that they live a life with dignity and pride.
The Deputy Commissioner said that today the country was confronting major problems of unemployment and poverty, which could be resolved by imparting quality skill and technical training to the youth. Terming the skill training as the only mantra for poverty alleviation in the country, he said that this could open new avenues of employment for the youth, which was the need of hour. Mr. Sharma said that this was only possible if institutions like RUDSET come forward for skilling the youth.
The Deputy Commissioner said that realizing the vast potential skill training in the state, the state government was already taken a slew of measures to promote it in a big way. Sharma said that a special focus was being given to impart skill training to rural youth, women, persons with disabilities and informal sector besides developing the pool of trainers and instructors to initiate skill development programs in far more effective and result oriented manner.
Earlier, the Director RUDSET Jagdish Kumar and District Guidance Counselor Surjit Lal welcomed the Deputy Commissioner to the institute.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also felicitated the meritorious students of the institute.
