Jalandhar(Wishav Warta): Extending warm greetings to the residents of the district on the festival of lights, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today called upon the people to celebrate clean, green and pollution free Diwali.
The Deputy Commissioner said that since centuries Diwali- a festival of love, light and prosperity has been celebrated by us with utmost devotion and full religious zeal. He said that the sparkling lights of Diwali not only illuminate every household but it was also a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair. Mr. Sharma hoped that this Diwali would once again bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people besides strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood amongst them’.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to celebrate this festival with traditional fervor and gaiety rising above the parochial considerations of caste, color, creed and religion thereby cementing the bonds of harmony, amity and goodwill. He said that that all the residents of city must come forward and make a firm resolve to celebrate Diwali with few crackers and as per the time fixed by the High Court.Likewise, Sharma has also asked the people adhere by the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to burst the crackers between 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm tomorrow on Diwali night.
The Deputy Commissioner said that celebrating a clean, green and pollution free Diwali was the need of the hour to check the everyday increasing pollution on one hand and ensuring a healthy lifestyle on the other hand. Sharma said that every city resident must ensure that fewer crackers were busted on Diwali so that noise and air pollution could be checked thereby contributing immensely in saving our planet.
