Jalandhar, 22 September(Wishav Warta): In order to ensure punctuality and discipline in the government offices, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today conducted surprise checking in offices of Improvement Trust, Municipal Council and Government Senior Secondary School Kartarpur and found eight officials absent from duty.
During his visit to the city, the Deputy Commissioner first of all conducted a surprise check at the office of Kartarpur Improvement Trust. Going through the attendance register the Deputy Commissioner found five employees of the Civic body absent from the duty.
Subsequently, Sharma moved to the office of Municipal Council Kartarpur for the checking. During the surprise check three officials of the Council were found absent from the duty. Later on the Deputy Commissioner moved to the Government Senior Secondary School and checked the attendance in the school but no one was found absent in the school.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner said that this surprise checking was in consonance with the directions of the state government to ensure punctuality and discipline in the government offices besides fulfilling the commitment of the state government for prompt deliverance of citizen centric services and redressal of public grievances. Sharma said that the main objective was to ensure that officers/ officials sit in their offices and ensure that people do not face any problem in getting their routine administrative works done. He said that show cause notice would be issued to these officers/ officials found absent during working hours.
The Deputy Commissioner said that that this surprise checking would continue in the coming days, so that the directions of state government were implemented in the right earnest. Sharma said that any sort of laxity in attendance and punctuality in the office would not be tolerated at any cost.
