Johannesburg: Cricket Australia (CA) has banned Australian captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner for 12 months and handed a nine-month ban to Cameron Bancroft for ball tampering.
The news came half a day after CA CEO James Sutherland told reporters in Johannesburg that the trio had been suspended from the final Test against South Africa, and that the quantum of punishment would be divulged within 24 hours. On Wednesday, Sutherland and his CA colleagues met with Smith, Warner and Bancroft in the team hotel in Johannesburg and informed them of their respective sanctions.
