Gurdaspur, 27 September(WishavWarta): The leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira while addressing a public meeting at Village Shampura (Fatehgarh Churrian) alleged that there is loss of faith amongst the Minister’s and MLA’s in their Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. Khaira said that he was surprised to read a statement of Minister Navjot Sidhu today, who has demanded that the department of police be given to him or in other words he be made the Home Minister of Punjab. While doing so Navjot Sidhu claimed that if he was made the Home Minister not a single drug dealer or mafia would be spared and if he failed to do so he will quit politics, quoted Khaira.
This sensational statement of Minister Navjot Sidhu is nothing but a direct attack on the capabilities of Capt. Amarinder Singh as Home Minister of Punjab, stated Khaira. It also shows that Navjot Sidhu is of the firm opinion that the drug menace has not been curbed in Punjab till now and only if he was given the control of police can drugs be wiped out from the state, said Khaira. In other words, Navjot Sidhu doubts the capacity of Capt. Amarinder Singh as a leader, who has failed to control drugs as per his election manifesto promise, said the LoP.
This is not the first occasion when his own partymen have questioned the claims of Capt. Amarinder Singh. Recently Surjit Singh Dhiman MLA Amargarh had publically confessed that the Congress government had failed to control drugs which were available in abundance in every nook and corner of state, said the LoP. Thereafter, 50 Congress MLA’s led by Sukhjinder Randhawa gave a signed memorandum to the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for stringent action against drug mafia Bikramjit Majithia, but to no avail claimed Khaira. It is a matter of record, that Parminder Singh Pinky MLA Ferozepur had publically termed the Capt. Amarinder Singh government being run by bureaucrats and babudom. Pinky had stated that there is no respect for elected representatives in the eyes of Punjab government, said Khaira. He further stated that Minister Charanjit Channi during a TV show couple of days back confessed that the government had failed to curb the corruption in Punjab and if the situation continue to be so he would rather resign as a Minister.
Therefore, AAP believes that Capt. Amarinder Singh is not only inaccessible and controlled by a small coterie but also lacks the will to deliver good governance in Punjab, said Khaira. Our allegations of poor governance he said, are only being vindicated and confirmed by the oft repeated criticism by the Ministers and MLA’s of the ruling party. Khaira in the same breath also questioned the integrity of Minister Navjot Sidhu that either he should take some concrete action on his observations or he should stop making rebellious statements, as he has failed to do anything valid on his allegations of cable mafia earlier.
He appealed to the voters of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha to elect their clean and educated candidate Major General Suresh Khajuria so that Punjab can be safe from the clutches of greedy politicians of traditional Congress, SAD-BJP parties.
