Jalandhar: The task of giving smartphones to the youth by the state government is to start after the budget session. According to information in the pre-budget meetings done by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on the budget, he has indicated to the legislators that the government is going to start giving smartphones to the youth after the budget session. Special funds will be kept for the task in the budget. A source said that before the Congress came to power, the youth in the entire state had registered for the smartphones through a team of Prashant Kishore. The young people who had requested for smartphones, their names and addresses were kept safe in the Punjab Congress Bhawan. A large number of youngsters have registered for the smartphones across the state.
Captain government can sign agreement with Reliance or any other major national company for smartphones. The Chief Minister had already raised this issue before Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani. It is believed that this phone distribution will also be done in different stages, like the farmer’s debt waiver. Congress called the scheme ‘Captain Smart Connect’ scheme.
