Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira today said that Capt. Amarinder Singh CM was very cleverly trying to create a maliciously false web around MLA Ropar Amarjit Sandoa, in the ongoing mining issue and in the process save and shield his fellow Congress leaders accused of blatant illegal mining.
Khaira said he was amused to see two important developments related to illegal mining today, that clearly prove the intentions of the Chief Minister to save, protect and shield Congress leaders accused of illegal mining and shift the onus upon Ropar MLA.
Khaira said that he was stunned to read reports today that the district administration had termed the controversial mining legal where the MLA was attacked, this only goes to show the complete partisan role of Capt. Amarinder Singh and a blatant attempt to shield mining mafia and the attackers. Various independent media channels have often exposed even the legal mining sites of Punjab indulging in illegal mining both vertical and horizontal as they dig out much material than allowed, said Khaira. Hence the latest clean chit given by Ropar administration is just an eye wash and a cock and bulls troy to save the culprits.
Similarly, Khaira said as per information the Jalandhar police has cancelled the illegal mining FIR against Laddi Sherowalia the newly elected MLA, although it was registered on the directions of Election Commission of India. The complainant has stated that he was not called by the police before the said politically motivated cancellation, said Khaira.
Khaira said Capt. Amarinder Singh has got a statement released through Congress leaders yesterday, demanding inquiry against Ropar MLA into allegations of his seeking money from mining mafia. Khaira said it was sad that the Congress leaders in and the government are supporting the allegations of a murder accused Ajwinder Singh, currently on bail and the main attacker against the MLA Ropar.
Khaira dared Capt. Amarinder Singh why he didn’t order a similar inquiry against the tainted Ex-Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh, who received Rs. 5 crore money from the irrigation scamster contractor Gurinder Singh, accused of cheating the government of Rs. 1,000 crores? Was dropping the Minister enough action despite glaring charges against him for “benami” transactions, money laundering and taking a bribe of Rs.5 crore from Gurinder Singh?, quizzed Khaira.
Khaira urged Capt. Amarinder Singh to disclose what action he had taken on the tweet made by him from his helicopter few months ago, on the 6 illegal mining sites in Nawan Shahar? Is the stoic silence due to “benami” partnership of Congress leaders Channi and Rana Gurjeet Singh in these Khuds?, asked Khaira.
Khaira said he was saddened to note, that Capt. Amarinder Singh had embarked on the same role of erstwhile SAD-BJP government that shielded and promoted mining mafia, as their leaders had major stakes in the sleazy trade. Khaira said only the roles have reversed as now the Congress leaders have become major stakeholders in the illegal mining, hence the Chief Minister chooses to remain a mute spectator to the blatant “loot” of natural resources of Punjab!
