Paragpur (Jalandhar): Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today said that Cabinet Sub Committee to finalize the legislation and policy for regularization of unauthorized colonies would submit its recommendations to the state government very soon.
Interacting with the media persons here today on the sidelines of Jatt Expo Mela here today, the Minister said that the sub-committee would keep in mind the interests of common people while submitting the report. He said that every effort would be made to facilitate the people on one hand and to ensure planned urban development of the state on the other. Bajwa said that the committee, of whom he was also a member, has been mandated to bring unplanned areas would be brought in the planning framework thereby facilitating basic amenities for the citizens of these colonies and better quality of life for them.
Replying to another query, the Minister said that Captain Amarinder Singh government has taken unprecedented initiative to bail out the farmers of the state from debt loan. He said that in the first phase crop loan upto Rs 2 lakh was being waived off by the state government. Bajwa expressed hope that soon the food growers of the state would be immensely benefitted by these pro-farmer steps of the state government.
On another query, the Minister said that the Captain government had inherited ‘empty exchequer’ from the SAD-BJP alliance government that ruled the state for 10 years. He said that massive efforts were being made by the Chief Minister to bring the economy of the state back on track. Bajwa said that the state government was not leaving any stone unturned to restore the pristine glory of the state by taking unprecedented initiatives.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, the Minister described such initiatives as the need of hour to bail out the farmers. He said that the hard working and resilient farmers of the state through their sheer dedication played a major role in making the country self reliant in food production by pioneering the ‘Green Revolution’ in late 1960s. However, he said that the farmers were now in distress due to diminishing returns from the agriculture sector as the production has already reached stage of plateau.
The Minister said that in such a scenario these types of initiatives would go a long way in helping the farmers. He said that participation of renowned players of farm machinery and experts during expo reflect the popularity of this expo. Bajwa also patted the organizers for holding this mega event for upgrading the knowledge of farmers.
