Jalandhar: Education Minister Punjab Aruna Chaudhary today said that performance based and paperless new transfer policy of the Education department would be introduced by the department within a fortnight.
Interacting with the media persons here on the sidelines of annual prize distribution function in the local KMV college, the Minister said that the main thrust of the transfer policy would be to ensure that the teachers performing well in the field of education were rewarded. She said that as per the new policy detailed evaluation of the teachers would be done as per their performance in the current academic year. Chaudhary said that the new policy would also stipulate that any teacher who was transferred at new post performs their duty at that post for atleast three years.
The Minister said that this would ensure efficiency of the teachers by giving stability to their career besides improving the level of education in the state.She further said that another unique feature of the ensuing policy would be that it would be completely a paperless policy. Chaudhary said that the teachers would apply online and the stations would also be allotted to them through the same procedure. “This year the teachers will witness a completely transparent and efficacious transfer policy which will boost the education sector”, she added.
Asked to comment on the proposed rationalization policy by the Education department, the Minister said that this policy aims at judicious distribution of teachers in all the schools of the state especially in the border district. She said that the policy would ensure that surplus teachers from the schools were shifted to those where shortage of teachers was there. Chaudhary categorically said that the policy would be implemented in true letter and spirit to boost education in government schools.
The Minister further said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would take several significant decisions for imparting quality education to students. She asserted that the current tenure of the state government would be best remembered as golden era of education sector in the state.
Later on addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Punjab was scripting a new success story in the field of education. She said that for the first time in the history of the country pre-primary government school has been opened in the state, to impart quality education to students. Chaudhary said that even the Government of India has lauded the efforts made by the state government in this regard.
The Minister said that she was elated to be here at this heritage institute, which has been carved a niche for itself by imparting high quality education to the girl students. She said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that girls today were excelling in each and every sphere. Chaudhary also exhorted the girls to empower themselves by getting higher education.
Earlier, the Chairman of Management Committee of the College Chander Mohan and Principal of College Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the Chief guest and other dignitaries. They apprised the gathering about the glorious heritage of the institute and also showcased the long list of its students that had excelled in every field of life.
