Chandigarh, January 23: The co-president of Aam Aadmi Party and MLA from Sunam, Aman Arora on Monday wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh, Chief Secretary and RTS Commission exposing gross violations in implementing the Right to Service Act in social security, Women and Child development department of Punjab government. In his letter, Arora wrote that the officers of department of dist. Sangrur are violating the norms of RTS Act of government by unpresented delay in diposing off the applications of old, widow, disabled and dependent poor and needy pensioners without any reason.
Arora said that as per the RTS Act, applications related to pensions are to be cleared by the department within 7 days of applying but department has not been paying heed for months.
Quoting village Ubhawal of Sunam Vidhan Sabha constituency, Arora said that he had got 31 applications applied online on the E-Seva Kendra portal on in the first week of 2017 which were to be cleared by the dept within a week but even today, after the passage of more than 8 months, 3 applications are still awaiting the approval of DSSO Sangrur Jobandeep Kaur Cheema where as remaining 28 applications have been arbitrarily rejected by her a week back without assigning any reason which is a clear and gross violation of RTS Act and the needy and the poor have been harassed by the department for no fault of theirs.
Supporting his claim by providing documentary proofs from the E-Seva portal and providing complete details of all 31 applicants, he appealed the Chief Minister and the RTS commission to set the functioning of public centric dept in order specially related to the welfare of old, needy, poor common man. He appealed that the matter be probed thoroughly and guilty officials be punished for failing to perform their duty.
