Allahabad, 12 October(Wishav Warta): The Allahabad high court acquitted Talwar couple on Thursday in Aarushi-Hemraj dual murder case on the grounds of lack of evidence. The couple had appealed in the HC against their conviction in the murder ordered by the CBI court four years ago. Both had been lodged at Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. Nupur and Rajesh Talwar were convicted in the 2008 murder of their 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in Noida.
The bench of Judges BK Narayana and AK Mishra said the circumstantial evidences were not adequate for a conviction beyond doubt, and ordered the dentist couple to be released immediately. “various shortcomings” in the lower court’s judgment, while ruling in

On May 16, 2008, Aarushi was found murdered in her bedroom in Noida’s Jal Vayu Vihar her throat slit with surgical precision. The police initially suspected the missing house help from Nepal, Hemraj, but his decomposed body was found a day later from inside a locked room on the terrace of the building. The police then began to suspect the Talwars and said Rajesh, the father, murdered the two after finding them in an “objectionable” position.
