
Jalandhar(Parteek Singh): The
counter intelligence team today revealed an international drug racket by arresting a Uganda national woman who was smuggling heroin concealed in fish’s skin. Police have recovered 1.5kg heroin from her possession. Drugs were packed in special kind of capsules, each contains 50 grams of heroin and capsule was placed into the dead fish. There were 30 capsules placed in 6 fishes.
Arpit Shukla, IGP Zone-II said following a tip-off, Jalandhar counter intelligence team led by AIG HPS Khakh in collaboration with Jagraon police laid a trap on Jagraon-Moga national highway and arrested African woman along with heroin. Accused has been identified as Rossete Namutebi(22) of Uganda, presently residing in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, she was traveling in a bus from Delhi when police arrested her. He said 1.5kg heroin was recovered from her possession concealed in fish’s skin. Court has given 5 days police remand. The kingpin of the drug racket is also a foreign citizen Nabus alias Michael, who has already been lodged in Nabha jail under NDPS Act and operating drug business from jail, Shukla added. The drug module is Delhi based courier system as per preliminary investigation, they use to deliver drugs in Punjab from Delhi after getting instructions from jail.
