Bholath: While participating in an Anganwadi worker’s protest at Bholath today, the Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira criticized the Capt. Amarinder Singh government for doing away with the Anganwadi system in Punjab.
Khaira while supporting the agitation assured the protesting workers at Bholath that his party would take up their cause in the ensuing winter session of the Vidhan Sabha. Khaira while speaking on the occasion said that Capt. Amarinder Singh instead of providing job to every family of Punjab is now hell bent to snatch the livelihood of approx. 54,000 Anganwadi workers, by merging their children in the Pre Nursery Government schools.
Khaira lambasted the Congress government for gagging the voice of Anganwadi workers by registering cases against 15 leaders of their union, while protesting at Patiala couple of days back. Khaira urged the state government not to be so vindictive with those demanding their bread and butter.
Khaira demanded that the proposal to do away with the Anganwadi system in Punjab should be shelved immediately and all cases registered against their leaders should be withdrawn without any further delay.
