Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday demanded resignation of Punjab cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in Nabha nagar council embezzlement case and asked Punjab govt. to hand over the case to CBI for further investigations.
In a press statement issued from AAP headquarters, AAP Nabha Vidhan Sabha president Gurdev Singh (Dev Mann) said that embezzlement was done by the office bearers and officers with the involvement of Minister Dharamsot. He said that Dharamsot is patronizing corruption in the area. Appreciating the action taken by cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to suspend Nabha nagar council president Rajnish Kumar Shanty, E.O. Sukhdeep Singh Kamboj and clerk Harjinder Singh, Mann said that he is hopeful that Sidhu will further take action against other people involved in the case.
Mann said that chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh claims of zero tolerance to corruption in state but his own ministers are indulging in the embezzlement of funds. He said that funds issued under Rajiv Gandhi Aavas Yojn, Swatch Bharat Abhayan and other central and state schemes were used by the office bearers for their personal use or were diverted to some other work. This leads to the non availability of drinking water, garbage problem and stray cattle in Nabha city and surrounding areas. He said that Dalits and poor people are deprived of facility of house as funds released for housing purpose were not reached to them.
Mann said that Capt. Amarinder Singh must immediately remove Dharamsot from his cabinet and hand over the inquiry to CBI for further investigation. He said that failing in that AAP will gherao minister Dharamsot. Mann said that he would not let the minister loot the money of poor and needy. Mann said that AAP will continue to raise the voice of poor, Dalits and unheard inside and outside Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
