The real discriminatory face of the Congress led government is all out in the open – Kainth
Protests seem to be the only way, the govt` stays deaf to our demands – NSCA
Chandigarh, 14 June ( wishavwarta )- In the recent reshuffle of the civil and police bureaucratic offices in the State, National Scheduled Castes Alliance criticized the Capt. Amrinder Singh led Congress government for ignoring yet again officers belonging to the Scheduled Castes community on these posts. Last week, on 8 June the National Commission for Scheduled Castes had issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Punjab asking clarification on an earlier order of transfers and postings of officers in the State and why the SC officers were being ignored for distinguished posts of the districts. The commission acted on the complaint filed to it by National Scheduled Castes Alliance and its President, Paramjit Singh Kainth.
There are a total of 22 DCs and 24 SSPs in the State, out of which the community has only a piecemeal representation and of the 4 Divisional Commissioners, there is not even a single officer from the SC community represented in the administration. Blaming the State government for its discriminatory attitude towards the SC community, Paramjit Singh Kainth said, “the Congress party boasts itself as the protector of minority and poor but only during the season of elections, after that they are back to their royal and inherently arrogant attitude towards the downtrodden and needy. Out of the total 8 posts, there were not a single Police Commissioner and Inspector General of Police Zonal belonging to the Scheduled Castes community in the State. There are no Vice Chancellors in any of the State’s universities.”
Kainth further added, “We had raised this issue earlier too and the government didn’t act on our demands. Now, yet again there has been a reshuffle and the ‘phony’ cabinet as well its chief minister has shamelessly ignored appointing officers from the scheduled castes community at top administrative offices. We tried reaching out to the government through ways which in the current health crisis of Coronavirus does not force us to get together and protest on roads but this seems now to be our only option.”
The National Scheduled Castes Alliance asked the government to act on the letter issued by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and also rectify their mistake done by ignoring the officers of the SC community in their administration. Paramjit Singh Kainth further announced that the organization will be organizing a meeting of its cadre soon for planning peaceful protests throughout the State. Memorandums shall be handed out to DC of the districts. Kainth said, “Unlike the ignorance of the State government, we shall follow our duty of social distancing through our protest. Likewise the government should adhere to its duty and provide adequate representation to the State’s 35% scheduled castes community in the State bureaucratic machinery.”
