Adampur:
Five persons were killed in a collision of Toyota Qualis and Lovely Professional University bus near Arjanwala village on Jalandhar-Adampur road and 7 persons were seriously injured. According to information 11 persons of a Bhangra group were traveling from Hoshiarpur in a Qualis car (PB10-AZ-2526) when it collided with University bus in the evening. The collision happened when the vehicle was overtaking a truck trailer. While 5 died and 6 persons were seriously injured among the persons travelling in the car and bus driver is also injured in the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Bharti (24) and Happy (26) of New Santokhpura, Jalandhar, Rajesh Kumar Bhatti (26) and his wife Chahat Bhatti of Amrik Nagar, Jalandhar and Jassi (23) of Rama Mandi, Jalandhar. Reportedly Rajesh Kumar Bhatti was driving the car when it collided with the bus. The LPU bus driver Kuldeep Singh of Hukkdaan, Hoshiarpur is also reported to be injured.
The bhangra group was traveling back from Hoshiarpur after a show when the incident took place. According to information, the bhangra group was run by Rajesh Kumar Bhatti and his wife Chahat Bhatti, while Jassi was working as an anchor with the group.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. After getting the news of the accident, local police arrived on the spot and started relief work with the help of locals.
