Today on the request of Government of Punjab, the first Shramik Special train from Jalandhar to Daltonganj from Firozpur Division of Northern Railway has moved with 1188 passengers on board. Hearty congratulations to the District Administration, Jalandhar and to Govt. of Punjab for having organized the movement of people in a wonderfully organized manner. Each and every passenger has been informed through SMS and were collected at a pre-decided points by the Bus where their identity has been checked and medical fitness granted after examination. They have been brought to the Railway Station in small batches and thereafter they have been made to sit in the pre-defined enclosures duly maintaining social distancing norms. All of them had individual medical fitness certificate and were wearing face covers. They were excited and thrilled to go back home. Indian Railways has put in its efforts as desired by Govt. of Punjab and confirmed by Govt. of Jharkhand in organizing the Shramik Special. Accordingly, the entire station area was sanitized, pandals have been erected for comfortable short stay of the passengers. Whole night work has been done for advance printing of the tickets which has been handed over to the State Government for the distribution.
The rake has been prepared and sanitized at Amritsar and brought to the Station at 10:10 hrs. Thereafter people from enclosures have been suitably guided and escorted by Commercial Staff, RPF and GRP state police to their coaches for their journey back home. The entire operation has been conducted smoothly and train departed in time so as to reach Daltonganj next day at 09:30 hrs. via Saharanpur, Lucknow.
Being the first Shramik special train, thanks is also reserved for the Press and public at large in helping Railways and State Administration in maintaining the norms of social distancing and not crowding the place/station. With this discipline, understanding and consideration, Railway hope to run many more such Special train from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Bathinda as per the request of the Government of Punjab with the consent of the destination State Government.
