Chandigarh:Progressive procurement of wheat by the State Government agencies and the private traders is to the tune of 122.09 LMT in the mandis by May 6, informed an official spokesman of Punjab Government and added that 101.71 LMT of wheat which amounts to 94.96% of the procurement by Government, has been lifted.
The spokesman said that out of the total procurement of wheat in the procurement centers across the State, the Government agencies have procured 121.59 LMT while the traders have procured 49654 MT.
Detailing agency-wise, he said that PUNGRAIN has procured 2818454 metric tonnes amounting to 23.1% of the total procurement, MARKFED procured 2674043 MT which amounts to 21.9%, PUNSUP procured 2350069 MT leading to 19.2%, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) procured 1660942 MT which is 13.6%, Punjab Agro Food Corporation (PAFC) procured 1210192 MT approximating to 9.9% while FCI procured 1445739 MT which amounts to 11.8% of the total wheat procured so far. Adding to this is a procurement of 49654 metric tonnes of wheat by private traders that is equivalent to 0.4% of the total procurement.
