NEW DELHI, Apr 9 — The SADD came down heavily on DSGMC president MS Sirsa for officially declaring Guru Harkrishan Sahib had “quarantined” himself at Sri Bala Sahib during the smallpox outbreak in Delhi that time.
SADD chief Paramjit Singh Sarna called upon Giani Harpreet Singh Ji, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, to take strong notice of Sirsa’s note to the Delhi government in which he stated that the Eighth Guru Nanak went into self-isolation at Sri Bala Sahib because of the smallpox outbreak.
“This is not just religious illiteracy but a nefarious attempt to turn the spirit of Sikhi, gurmat, gurbani and history upside down,” the SADD chief said in a hard-hitting statement denouncing Sirsa’s letter to the Delhi chief minister. “In that letter, the DSGMC president has tried to overturn the concept of ‘Sri Harkrishan Dhiyaiee Jis Dhithey Sab Dukh Jaaye’. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib in the daily ardaas wrote that by seeing Guru Harkrishan Sahib all pains leave. And here you have a Sirsa saying Guru Sahib went into quarantine.”

The Guru has never and will never slip into self-isolation and abandon Guru ki Sangat under any circumstances, Sardar Sarna told Sirsa.
“That’s the spirit of gurbani and gurmat. At the historical level, Sirsa has tried to twist the history. While in Delhi, Guru Harkrishan Sahib served the patients of the epidemic with the wisdom of naam and physical sewa. Guru Sahib rejected Aurangzeb’s summons for appearance. That’s the Guru’s paradigm, which unfortunately the likes of Sirsas have tried to undermine,” the SADD chief remarked.
