Chandigarh, May 4( Wishavwarta )- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today welcomed the Chandigarh Administration’s decision to lift curfew in the union territory, saying it was much needed and would go a long way in restoring normalcy.
“Due balance has been maintained in restarting economic activity and ensuring health safety and citizens should also extend their cooperation by following health protocols religiously”, SAD spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said in a statement here.
Appreciating Union Territory Administrator VP Singh Badnore for the bold and forward looking decision, the former minister said it was also in consonance with the wishes of the people. He said the Administration had taken the right decision by removing restrictions on vehicles and extending opening hours of all shops located in various sectors of the city.
Appreciating the administration for putting the citizens first while tackling the COVID -19 crisis in the city, Dr Daljit Cheema said the Administration had earlier also allowed essential shops to open which had ensured the well being of the people.
The SAD leader appealed to the people to take due precautions and reciprocate the gesture of the administration so that the situation continued to improve. “We must all follow laid down guidelines strictly to ensure Chandigarh’s fight against COVID-19 remains a success story”, he added. EOM
