Chandigarh, 23 September(Wishav Warta): Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh acting on the murder of a journalist and his mother orders SIT probe, the Punjab Police has set up a Special Investigative Team (SIT) under Inspector General (Crime) to probe the suspected murder of senior journalist KJ Singh and his mother.
KJ Singh and his mother were found dead in their Mohali residence and police yet to know the motive behind the crime. While Singh, a former News Editor of the Indian Express, The Tribune and The Times of India in Chandigarh, was found with his throat slit, his mother was suspected to have been strangulated in their Phase 3 B2 home.
The Chief Minister called up state DGP Suresh Arora to set up a SIT for a thorough investigation into the case. The IG (Crime), under whom the SIT will function, has been asked to ensure that all leads are probed and the culprits are identified and nabbed at the earlier.
“The Chief Minister has also directed the police to beef up security in the area and take steps to ensure the safety and security of the ordinary citizens of the state. Captain Amarinder reiterated his commitment to ensuring that law and order is maintained in Punjab at all costs” according to an official spokesperson.
