Jalandhar, June 29(wishavwarta)- Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that Punjab Government has taken adequate steps on the right time to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state which resulted that the situation is now far better in Punjab rather than other parts of the country.
Mr Bajwa accompanied by Chairman Punjab State Water Resources Management Development Corporation (PWRMDC) Mr Jagbir Singh Brar, was in Bhangala village, Nurmahal town of the Jalandhar to review the functioning of precast parabolic block water conveyance system’s model.
The minister appealed the people to follow the directives of the government including masking, social distancing and washing hands frequently to control the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that Punjab was first state in the country which imposed the curfew in the state and it has remained extensively successful to combat Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that state government has also enhanced its testing capacity from 80 tests per day in March to 6000 tests daily in the government sector now. He said that the state has now 16 private testing labs authorized from ICMR for the testing of Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr Bajwa stated that averagely 8026 tests are being conducted per 10 lakh people in Punjab whereas the national average is 5160 tests per 10 lakh people. Further, recovery rate in Punjab is 69 percent and recovery rate in national level is 57 percent.
The Minister said that the Government has already initiated mass awareness campaign ‘Mission Fateh’ to sensitize the people about the precautions to be followed to keep themselves safe from Covid-19 pandemic.
During his visit, the minister also showed satisfaction on functioning of the system to ensure efficient use of the water for the purpose of irrigation. He said that the cost of lying of water courses precast parabolic block is also lower than conventional system.
