While Congress has made Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh again its CM face, Bharatiya Janata Party’s has made Prem Kumar Dhumal Chief Ministerial candidate. The Congress party had won 36 seats in the previous Assembly, forming a government in the state, while the BJP’s won 27 seats. On the Himachal elections, senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned in favor of BJP candidates, while Congress national vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and senior leaders had campaigned for the candidates of Congress party.
