New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) today issued non bailable warrants against many respondents in Hookah bar case who failed to appear before it today or had refused to receive summons issued to them. It also has listed the case for final hearing on 12.12. 2017.
Disclosing this in a statement issued here today, the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that during the hearing NGT took serious notice of the fact that some respondents have received summons but failed to appear today and some even had refused to receive these. He said that NGT has made it clear that under no circumstances Hookah Bars will be allowed in the National Capital. He also disclosed that when one of the respondents who appeared today claimed that their Hookah was a herbal one, he was clearly told that no Hookah will be allowed. He said that it was strange that the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his minister who had made tall claims on the issue even failed to sent their representative for the case. He said that now it has been fully exposed that they neither took any initiative nor any order was issued by concerned Minister. He also said that it was surprising that Kejriwal and his team was interested in only Gujarat and other state elections and were least bothered about Delhi youth.
Sirsa said that it was most tragic that the AAP Government led by Kejriwal was not ready to awake from deep slumber whereas thousands of city youth are becoming addict to drug due to Hookah smoking which is far more dangerous than the common smoking of cigarettes. He said that this smoking is also causing Lung cancer and other ailments in youth. He said that he has taken this initiative to get these Hookah Bars banned and will do everything needed to save the youth of the city which are not only precious for their families alone but the Nation is loosing its future generation as well.
The Delhi MLA said that he was thankful to the NGT which has taken pro active stand on the matter due to which now these Hookah bars will be banned in the National capital forever.
