Jalandhar, 20 September(Wishav Warta): District (Rural) Police today claimed to have solved a blind case of murder and rape with the arrest of four accused Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on September 17, a case was registered in Lambra police station that a woman was raped and killed in the area.
The complaint was lodged by one Dalip Dass Sharma who said that he organized a party in connection with celebration of birth of his younger son and after the party ended, he noticed that his mother Girija Devi was conspicuously disappeared, SSP said adding that after a thorough search in entire night, broken bangle of his mother was found in the verandah and dead body in the field.
The lower portion of the suit was not on the body of her mother and the shirt was also in a torn condition and an injury mark inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon was visible on the right cheek of his mother, SSP said adding that during the course of investigation it was revealed that some unknown persons killed her and tried to dispose the dead body.
The complainant suspected Chhotu Dass responsible for the murder of his mother Girija Devi, Bhullar said adding that during the search in the area the Salwar (Lower Portion) of the deceased was found in the Bajra field and the Adhar Card of Chhotu Dass was also found from there.
The suspicion of the police on Chhotu Dass strengthened and during the course of further investigation four persons including Chhotu Dass Sharma (35), Vikas (27), Biru Kumar (19) and Matlesh Kumar (19) were arrested.
During the preliminary investigation the arrested persons revealed that on a fateful night the accused entered the party venue but were humiliated by the Girija Devi and her sons, as they were told to ‘get out’, SSP said adding that to take revenge for the humiliation, the accused tried to steal the cow of the family but the deceased saw them while doing so.
To keep the mouth of Girija Devi shut, the accused dragged her to the adjoining room and murdered her before raping her, sources said adding that thereafter, they dragged the dead body of Girija Devi to nearby Bajra fields and threw there.
A case under sections 0302/376/201/34 of Indian Penal Code was registered in PS Lambra, district Jalandhar (Rural). All the accused will be produced before the court and a deep probe will be conducted.
