Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said strict legal action would be taken against the travel agents who do not put their registration number in any sort of advertisement issued by them.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was mandatory for every Travel Agent to put their registration number in advertisements issued by them. He said that any sort of advertisement issued by the travel agents, whether in electronic or print media or in news channel or on walls or vehicles should carry the registration number of the Travel Agent. Sharma said that any sort of laxity on part of the travel agents in this regard would not be tolerated at any cost and strict action would be taken against him by the district administration.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the publisher of the advertisement would have to verify and retain the copy of registration certificate else stern action would be taken against them. He also asked the Travel agents to ensure that advertisements issued by them bear their registration numbers on it. Sharma also appealed publishers/ broadcasters to first ask for copy of registration certificate of the travel agents before publishing/ broadcasting the advertisements.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this move was aimed at saving people from the clutches of unauthorized travel agents. He said that the district administration has already uploaded the names registered travel agents on official website of district administration viz. jalandhar.nic.in. Sharma said that the people desirous to visit other countries should visit the website and contact these travel agents, which have been registered by the district administration as Travel agents, Ticketing agents and Consultancy firms.
