Five-time councillor Jagdish Raj Raja triumphs the top civic body post on Thursday after mayoral elections.
Raja has twice been the Leader of the Opposition in the MC House. He first won as an Independent candidate in 1991. He did not contest in 2002, when his wife became the Senior Deputy Mayor. The couple won in 2012 and 2017 MC polls from their wards.
