Jalandhar, April 5( Wishavwarta)- Tightening
the noose around shopkeepers violating the curfew norms, the Food and Civil Supplies department has slapped a fine worh Rs 10,000 on a shopkeeper for opening the shop besides lodging a FIR against the violator.
Divulging the details, the District Food and Supply Controller Mr. Narinder Singh said that in wake of curfew the district administration has asked the shopkeepers to shut down their but they could supply goods to people, for which special curfew passes has been issued. He said that several teams of the department have been constituted for ensuring strict compliance on the issue. Mr. Narinder Singh said that during checking in Nurmahal, a team detected that M/s Barkat Ram Mohinder Pal has opened his shop in grain market and was even selling goods to the people on exhorbitant rates than the MRP.
The District Food and Supplies Controller said that swinging into action a fine of Rs 10,000 was slapped on the shopkeeper and a case under section 188 of IPC has been registered against him in the Nurmahal Police station. He said that a similar action was done against Adhaar Super Store in Nurmahal a few days back. Mr. Narinder Singh said that the drive would continue in coming days too and anyone flouting the norms would be dealt with sternly.
