Yamunanagar: Former minister and Congress leader Nirmal Singh arrested by police on Thursday for attempt to murder. Nirmal Singh and 15 other persons were booked on Wednesday on the charge of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act for allegedly firing at the owner of a screening plant and other persons in the Khizrabad area of Yamunanagar district.
The complainant said land of the former minister was connected via a government-owned non-metalled road from Bailgarh village to Lakkar village.He alleged that the former minister got the road closed by digging pits about 10 days ago. He said owners of stone crushers and screening plants held a meeting on April 22 to get the way opened.He said owners of the stone crushers and screening plants decided to fill the pits on Tuesday.
“They asked me to send my earth-moving machine to cover the pits. I sent the machine and went to the spot on Tuesday night,” said the complainant.He said after some time, Nirmal Singh reached the spot with others. He alleged that Nirmal Singh, Sultan Singh and Aslam opened fire and other persons started throwing stones, after which they left the place.
