Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said while condemning the registration of a cross case against SGPC member Dyal Singh Kolianwali, his son Parminder and nephew Pardeep, said it was unfortunate that the State police had become a puppet in the hands of Congress leaders and had even gone to the extent of victimizing the victims of Congress atrocities.
In a statement here, senior leader and mp Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said it was shocking that instead of instantly proceeding against the Congress leaders who had led a murderous attack against SGPC member Kolianwali’s son Parminder, the State police had registered a cross case against the victims two days after the incident took place. “This has shaken the confidence of the people in the fairness of the law and order machinery. It has also proved our assertion that Congress men are misusing the police to settle personal scores”.
Asking the police to do its duty and not to dance of to the tunes of its political masters, Dhindsa said the SAD would not let the injustice being meted out by the Congress government to victims of Congress oppression succeed. We will take up these cases at the appropriate forum and ensure just punishment to the Congressmen behind this murderous assault”, he added.
The Akali leader also pointed out that chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had also taken up this case with the State police chief and conveyed his apprehension that attempts were being made to implicate Dyal Singh Kolianwali and his family in a false case. “Despite this a false case has been registered against the SGPC member for conspiring to kill an aide of a Congress worker who had earlier claimed that he was not even at the incident site. Now the self injured Congressman Gurmeet Singh has claimed that Manpreet Manna, another Congressman, was with him on a scooter when the incident took place. However Manna had earlier stated that he was not present on the occasion. This proves that the entire cross case of the Congress workers is based on lies and deserves to be quashed immediately”, Dhindsa said.
The mp also asked the government to take stock of the law and order situation in the State immediately. “The State is slipping into jungle raj with incidents of political vendetta on the rise. Such incidents have encouraged anti-social and even anti-national elements that have increased their activities resulting in sensational murders including those of a Pastor and a senior RSS functionary recently. If the government does not intervene immediately things could get out of hand which we can ill afford in this border State”, Dhindsa added.
