Jalandhar(Wishav Warta): Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today called upon the students to enthusiastically appear for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination scheduled to be held on January 7 as it would enable them to pursue a glorious career in Indian Armed Forces.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that the next all India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination for admission to Class VI & IX in Sainik Schools would be conducted on January 7 (Sunday), 2018. He said that the proposed Examination Centers in the State were Amritsar, Ludhiana, Faridkot, Patiala and Kapurthala. Mr. Sharma said that the primary aim of these schools was to prepare boys, from the disadvantaged socio-economic strata of society, academically physically and mentally for entry into National Defense Academy & Naval Academy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that besides these schools were also focusing on removing regional imbalance in the Officers’ Cadre of the Armed Forces by grooming the young boys. He said that these schools were Residential Public Schools, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education adding that these impart quality Public School education up to Class XII under 10+2 pattern. Sharma said that Punjab has always been known to be the land of warriors and for the people of the State serving in the Armed Forces was not only a means of livelihood but to carry forward age old tradition of gallantry and nationalism.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Sainik School Kapurthala, which was one of premier institute of northern India has sent more than 700 cadets to the NDA. Likewise, he said that a large number of them have joined the Armed forces through CDS, OTA, IMA, Naval and Air Force Academies. Sharma further said that a huge number of them have risen to the rank of Lieutenant General or equivalent ranks in Air Force and Navy and won Gallantry awards for their heroic deeds. He said that more than half of the seats in this school were reserved for the civilian boys from the state adding that the last date for application in school was December 5.
