Jalandhar(Wishav Warta): As a part of the ongoing campaign of district administration to spread awareness about the importance of being a voter, the General Assistant (GA) to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon today led a cycle rally in city make the people, especially the youth, aware of significance of vote in a democratic set.
Addressing the students before the cycle rally from Sri Devi Sahai School, Dr. Dhillon said that as India was a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years it was need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself as voter so that a new and progressive India could be carved out. He said that for it the basic necessity was that the youth must come forward for enrolling themselves as voters in the country. The GA said that the presence of young voters in the country was necessary to give new shape and ideas to strengthen democracy at the grass root level.
Dr. Dhillon said that the district administration was targeting the students from age group of 14-18 years to make them aware of the importance of vote in their formative years. He said that the main aim was that by the time these students get eligible for registering themselves as voters, they must be full acquainted about the significance of their Right to Franchise. Likewise, the GA said that such endeavors were solely aimed at apprising the youngsters about the importance of being a voter in a democratic country.
