Chandigarh, 18 September(Wshav Warta): Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has condoled the death of noted nephrologist Dr Kirpal Singh Chugh, known in India as the Father of Nephrology, who died of cancer on Sunday at the age of 85.
The Chief Minister, through his condolence message, conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
Describing Dr Chugh as an eminent teacher, thorough researcher and clinician and, above all, an exceptional human being, the Chief Minister said Dr Chugh’s contribution to nephrology, globally, had made him an icon in the field of medicine.
Recalling the several national and international awards and recognitions earned by Padma Shri Dr. Chugh, in his career spanning over six decades, Captain Amarinder said his death had left a void that the medical fraternity would be hard put to fill.
