Chandigarh: The Shiromani akali dal has strongly condemn the action of the congress party to reject the motion presented by akali dal on renaming of dyal singh college of delhi and said that its action has once again proved its anti punjabi and anti sikh mindset In a statement released here today party Spokesman Manjinder Singh sirsa said that it was most infortunate that while rejecting the motion presented by Akali dal, congress forgot the contribution of Dyal Singh Majithia in establishing country’s first bank which was punjab national bank, the tribune newspaper and host of educational institutes besides a social organisation formed by him for the better future of the people of country.
Sirsa said that not only Dyal Singh had great contribution but his father general lehna majithia was a great general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh empire who thrice conquered afghanistan where as his son general ranjodh singh was also a great fighter. He said that even historians have acknowledged their contribution.
He said that it was most disgusting that congress has failed to recognise their services and the tweet which Capt Amarinder singh had tweeted has proved to be a fraud.
Sirsa further said that if it had been a renaming in the name of Nehru or Gandhi family the congress would have wholehearted supported it even if it were a name of a toilet.
